Description: Built in 1758 by John and James Adam, Paxton House is one of the finest 18th century Palladian country houses in Britain. The interiors by Robert Adam are matched by the largest collection of Chippendale furniture in Scotland, and the regency furniture by Trotter of Edinburgh. The House lies in the heart of 80 acres of landscaped gardens, parkland and woodland. The riverside walks along the banks of the Tweed are well signposted and take one to the Ice-house and the Boathouse.

How to get there: By car: Follow the signposted route from the A1 Berwick bypass along the B6461, or from the A697 junction with the B6461. By public transport: Bus 32 �Paxton House Bus� from Berwick � daily except Sunday.
Seasonal opening details (2006): April 1st to October 31st.
Opening Hours: Daily � House 11.15am to 5pm � last tour 4.15pm. Grounds � 10am to sunset. Shop and tea-room 10am to 5pm. Open all year for group tours by arrangement.
